The earlobe, also called the lobule, is primarily soft, fleshy, suspended lower portion of the outer ear lacking firmness, elasticity and is full of blood and nerve endings. The main function of the earlobe is to warm the ears and maintain balance.
Ear lobe surgery or repair (Lobuloplasty) is a reconstructive plastic surgery performed
to restore the appearance of earlobes that have been torn or stretched due to –
- Forehead Frown Lines – Frown lines, also referred to as wrinkles, worry lines, forehead furrows, glabellar lines, or “the 11s,” that are deep vertical lines that
develop on the forehead. - Ear Piercing or insertion of ear gauges
- Large or heavy earrings
- Children pulling earing playfully
- Ear split traumatically because an earring gets caught or is pulled forcefully
- Ear tearing
inside a machine by the arm - Unfortunate accidents
Earlobe repair (Lobuloplasty) is a short, minor surgical procedure to restore the desired shape and position of earlobes and give an improved appearance, facial symmetry and propositions.
Ear Repair (Lobulosplasty) procedure –
- Forehead Frown Lines – Frown lines, also referred to as wrinkles, worry lines, forehead furrows, glabellar lines, or “the 11s,” that are deep vertical lines that
develop on the forehead. - The surgeon extends the split downwards to complete the ear.
- Remove any damaged tissue that is present.
- Incisions are closed with minimum sutures.
- Stitches are removed after 1-2 week.
