Hypospadias is a birth illness in boys in which the opening of the urethra is not located at the tip of the penis.
The urethra has four functions –
- Expulsion of urine
- Expulsion of sperm
- Prevention of urine/sperm to travel back into the lower urinary tract
- Protection against bacteria to enter the body from outside.
If Hypospadias is not given proper medical attention, then the patient may have to suffer numerous health related issues like difficulty in urinating while standing, fertility problems, psycological problem about being different.
Surgery is highly recommended and the goal of surgery is –
- For urine to be exceeded in a forward way.
- For the penis to be straight while erect.
- For the penis to normal.
